PARENT COACHING & CONSULTATION

You finally have
some answers.
But now what?

Consultation for families navigating life after a developmental or neuropsychological evaluation — turning a long list of recommendations into a practical plan for home, school, and daily life.

CONNECTING THE DOTS

When the evaluation is done but the journey has just begun

A comprehensive evaluation can bring real clarity — finally understanding why things have been hard, and having language for it. It can also leave families holding a dense report, unfamiliar terminology, and a long list of recommendations with no clear sense of where to begin.

Many families aren't sure which recommendations matter most right now, how much support to give, whether current therapies are actually helping, or how to make everyday life feel more manageable. That's exactly where consultation comes in.

"Which recommendations matter most right now? How much support should we be giving? Are the therapies we're already doing actually helping?"

These are the questions families bring to consultation.

What Consultations Can Cover

Practical support across the areas that matter most

Making Sense of Evaluations

Understanding findings, demystifying terminology, and identifying which recommendations are the right priorities for your family right now.

Routines & Daily Life

Building realistic systems for mornings, homework, transitions, and self-care — and troubleshooting when things aren't working.

Executive Function & Independence

Supporting planning, organization, task initiation, and emotional regulation — and helping caregivers shift from constant prompting toward greater independence over time.

School & IEP Navigation

Understanding and advocating for appropriate school supports, accommodations, and IEP processes — and communicating more effectively with your child's school team.

Coordinating Care

Helping families make sense of recommendations across multiple providers, identify gaps, and get everyone working from the same page.

Communication & Self-Advocacy

Supporting communication differences, self-advocacy skills, and social participation — and helping parents communicate concerns more effectively with providers and schools.

Who This Is For

This may be a good fit if…

Daily routines, self-care, or transitions feel exhausting or conflict-filled
You're trying to prioritize a long list of post-evaluation recommendations
Your child needs constant reminders, prompting, or supervision
Current therapies feel overwhelming or difficult to implement consistently
Afternoons, homework, or school demands regularly fall apart
Social participation or peer relationships are becoming more difficult
You're unsure how much support versus independence is appropriate
Sleep, eating, sensory, or regulation patterns are affecting daily functioning
ADHD, anxiety, autism, or executive functioning differences are affecting daily life
You need help connecting the dots across providers, school, and home
School accommodations or IEP supports feel confusing or insufficient
You want practical, individualized strategies — not just more information

Consultation can support families navigating anything from mild executive functioning or social challenges to more complex developmental profiles involving communication, learning, regulation, or flexibility differences.

THE APPROACH

Collaborative, practical, and neurodiversity-affirming

Consultation is individualized. Some families need a few sessions to sort through post-evaluation priorities. Others benefit from ongoing support as their child moves through new stages, school transitions, or changing needs.

  1. Meet you where you are

Whether you're newly navigating an evaluation or feel like you've tried everything, we start with your priorities — not a preset curriculum.

  2. Translate findings into action

As an SLP who works closely alongside psychologists and other specialists, I can bridge evaluation language to everyday strategies.

  3. Support the whole family

Sustainable change happens at home. Consultation focuses on building realistic systems that fit your family — not adding more to an already full plate.

Christine Moore, MS CCC-SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist

I'm a Portland-area speech-language pathologist with experience working alongside psychologists, occupational therapists, educators, physicians, and families. In collaboration with the team, I often help bridge developmental understanding — including neuropsychological evaluation findings — into practical day-to-day strategies.

My approach is neurodiversity-affirming, relationship-based, and focused on supporting meaningful participation and increasing independence over time.

GETTING STARTED

What to expect

  1. Initial Inquiry

Set up an introductory Zoom call to meet Christine and talk about next steps. You can also complete a coaching inquiry form and upload recent reports.

  2. First Consultation (60 minutes, via Zoom)

Before we meet for our first consultation, I will thoroughly review recent reports and get permission to consult with other providers on your family’s team. The first appointment is focused on understanding your current concerns, reviewing evaluation priorities, identifying practical next steps, and previewing initial strategies. Most families leave with a clearer sense of where to focus and what to try first.

  3. Ongoing or As-Needed Support

Some families need only a few sessions. Others benefit from regular appointments for building skills and tackling challenges over time as their child grows and circumstances change. We'll figure out what makes sense for your family together.

While most families prefer the convenience of Zoom, in-person appointments are also available by request in SW Portland!

SESSION FEES

Most families begin with 60-minute appointments ($150/Session). 45-minute appointments ($135) and 30-minute appointments ($120) are available for established clients for check-ins or focused follow up.

Insurance & Superbills

Parent & Family Consultation is a private pay service. Christine is not an in-network provider with any insurance plan, and this specific service is not eligible for insurance reimbursement — meaning superbills are not available for consultation appointments.

This is different from speech-language pathology therapy or caregiver training services that are part of a direct treatment plan with a child, which may be eligible for out-of-network reimbursement. If you are seeking those services, please see the general FAQs for more information.

FROM A PARENT

"The parent coaching I did with Christine was invaluable. The work we did together helped me understand my daughter and her communication needs on a whole new level. It also helped me to more fully understand and embrace the neurodiversity movement and how I can more effectively be a neuro-affirming parent."

— J.H., parent of a middle schooler
